Historically the purchase of a GIS has been a prerequisite to getting the benefits and savings that a GIS can offer. Although the acquisition of a GIS will provide a wealth of functionality it is not always financially feasible or organisationally desirable.
ODC will host all of your data in one of the world’s leading GI systems. The following is a non-exhaustive list of the data that can be included:
- Your data (Grounds Maintenance, Property Points, Site Services, Land Terrier, Footpaths, etc)
- Ordnance Survey Mastermap Topography
- Aerial Photography (OS or 3rd party)
- Land Registry Polygons
- 3rd party data (Census, Crime, Enviroment Agency, etc)
Management of Updates
The OS update the MasterMap Topography base mapping every 6 weeks. ODC can implement these change only updates and any other updatees ensuring the organisations information is kept fully up to date.
GISMO (Geographic Information System Mapping Online)
GIS offers benefits and savings and provides a wealth of functionality allowing housing associations to work far more efficiently. ‘Managed GIS Hosting’ allows your data to be held at ODC’s secure offices in Oxfordshire.
The data remains your property and can be retrieved as required, with the maintenance and production of any maps / reports undertaken by ODC, thus eliminating the need to acquire and maintain GIS software licenses or hire a specialist GIS officer.
Your data is available through ODC’s online GIS (GISMO). This software is fairly intuitive requiring only minimum training. You access your data through any of the mainstream internet browsers.
Once a set of data has been captured it is essential that updates and changes are incorporated to ensure that the system is up to date. ODC can provide a remote service to undertake these amendments ensuring that the data is of the highest accuracy.
PDF and Printed Maps
Printed maps and PDF files are great ways of sharing information with contractors or residents pertaining to a specific site or area. ODC will produce a set of these and provide replacements as data is updated.
Produce bill of quantities
A bill of quantities is a list of all features, the quantities of each and their sizes, collated into a document usually at “area” or “site” level. This is of particular use for sharing with potential contractors when tendering for grounds maintenance. ODC are able to take the organisations data and produce a bill of quantities in a format best suited for the organisations needs and including any additional information that might be required. Again these are adjusted following implementation of amendments.
Analysis and Reports
The hosting of your data in one of the world’s leading GIS means that all of the most advance tools are available for analysing your data. ODC can analyse your data and provide output to enhance decision making. Examples of analysis undertaken by other housing associations
- Hot Spot mapping of ASBO or Crime data
- Rent arrears clustering
- Stock analysis
- Comparison of Land Registry boundaries and property points.
- Census analysis
- Identification of closest applicable void for relocation
In addition to the hosting detailed above ODC currently have in development a very user friendly online mapping tool that will allow users to log in and view their live data 24/7. Basic GIS functionality will allow users to view & query the data, produce red line plans of properties or land, measure areas and print to PDF or paper.
